Mission in Kabile

LBC’s vision and ethos is to make theology relevant to Latvian society and beyond. So, part of this vision includes a mission outreach in Kabile (145 km southwest of Riga). Kabile has a population of around 1000 people. This small town struggles with high level of unemployment, families with alcohol addiction and as a consequence broken lives. LBC also benefits from the cooperation with the Blue Cross (a Christian organisation that works with the homeless, alcoholics and former prisoners), the director of culture and social services of Kabile. This helps us to be more aware of and effective in fulfilling the local needs. Since 2009, LBC has been able to provide:
  • Counselling for the Blue Cross and for the local population
  • Set up a children’s club of up to 25-30 children
  • Summer camps for children
  • Lectures/seminars on relevant issues: how to deal with addiction; marriage relationships; how to understand and deal with children from different age groups in a family setting
  • Social events: concerts; Christmas/Easter parties, charity work
Some of our learners are also involved in missions outside of Latvia, for example in the North of Russia and Ukraine (Crimea).
