Building

The Bible School was closed by Soviet forces in 1940 and converted into a block of flats. It has remained empty for a considerable length of time. To accommodate the LBC, it needs general repairs and remodeling. The building suits the needs and vision of the LBC perfectly, located in the city centre, right at the centre of things. We plan to use this building for multiple functions. We envisage 3 administrative floors and a hospitality floor to accommodate visiting lecturers and students from other Latvian cities.

The first floor will contain office spaces, which we will rent out to Christian businesses and firms with ethical standards to cover our utility bills. Also, a day care centre to reach out to the neighboring community; a Norwegian Christian company has offered to help with the day care centre. The second floor will accommodate community/seminar rooms, two studentauditoriums and a small kitchen. The third floor will be an administrative floor for LBC staff. It will contain LBC’s growing library and a mini-studio where we can record the Distance learning courses for our Internet-based education programs. The fourth floor is a hospitality floor with ten bedrooms which could accommodate up to twenty people, also a flat for visiting lecturers.

The basement floor will be used for storage and provide an area for youth activities. The building is located in a socially unstable neighborhood and we believe the Lord has placed us there purposefully.
